What does smoking cigarettes in your dreams mean?

Since I can remember, I’ve had dreams off and on with me smoking in them. I’ve never smoked in my life, but in my dreams, I can vividly taste the cigarette and smoke and something tells me that I’ve done it before when I wake up, although I know I never have.

Recently, every dream I’ve had has included smoking cigarettes. They also commonly depict me traveling or running away from family. Any clues as to what this may mean?

Ooh, you’re a rebellious one! You’re struggling for independence and control in your life, and something seems to be keeping you back. It’s like you’re on a treadmill, and you’re subconsciously frustrated and angry about your inability to obtain your goal. As a result, a part of you has gotten very rebellious. You’re dreaming about doing things you perceive as somehow wrong or naughty. You smoke cigarettes. You run away from your family. It’s like your mind is saying: "Look at me now! Look at what I can do!" This probably gives you a subconscious thrill, and, as a result, you dream about it more often than mundane, everyday stimuli that aren’t exciting. Rebellious dreams often include sexual content as well; so if you start having dreams like that, remember that it’s a normal part of breaking free from constraints.

My advice is just to hang in there. Independence is something we all strive for. Try to appreciate the little successes you have everyday. Feel proud of the things you can do on your own and the problems you can solve without help. And don’t worry about smoking in your dream. It doesn’t mean you’re going to do it in real life. It just means your working out some frustration.

dream interpretation?

there is a dream i see repeatedly after a gap of a few months since a long time now. i always wonder why do i see similar dreams.

the dream is that i see myself locked in a small room and i see a lot of lizards in the room. and by a lot i mean ALOT! the room is carpeted with lizards, walls, floor, ceiling, everywhere and i can’t move at all.

come to think of it i am NOT at all scared of lizards. and i don’t dream often. but i see this creepy dream occasionally and repeatedly. what could be the interpretation to this dream?

To dream of lizards foretells attacks upon you by enemies.

Dream Meanings?

I don’t know if I believe in psychic abilities on not, but recently I’ve had some dreams that were similar to things from my life.
For example, I had a dream that I was lighting a scented candle and the box of matches set themselves on fire. Then a couple days later, I accidentally burned a small hole in my carpet.
This wasn’t the only time. I recently had another dream that was similar to something that happened a few days later.
Is this all coincidence or do my dreams mean something more? Should I keep a dream journal?

Dreams are not co-incidental. Actually, there is no such thing as a co-incident. And your dreams followed by actual events prove that. (Though they could also mean you are impressionable, but there is a good deal of human experience that suggests towards PREMONITION or PRE-WARNING through dreams. Mostly experienced by women.)

I am a Muslim. Islam has a rich self>dream interpretation tradition, based on premises different from the ones on which the Western tradition is based.

There are three types of dreams, according to the Prophet:

Quote: "There are three types of dreams: a righteous dream which is glad tidings from God, the dream which causes sadness is from the Devil, and a dream from the ramblings of the mind."

There are also dreams that show the development of our spiritual side. Premonitions and pre-cognitive dreams are those types. They are not evil or bad, they just reflect a capability that you are developing.

You have answered your own question: there is no "solution" because there is no "problem." You are only in a state/ phase/ stage. To keep a dream journal is the best idea.

Record what’s happening in the dream life, and how strongly is it connected to what happens in the waking life.

Also consider whether you had forgotten about your dreams when the incidents that followed them happened, or were you thinking so hard about the dream that you were subconsciously led to commiting a certain act?

You are the only one who can understand this.

In Islamic interpretation, we consider these factors:

1. Who is the dreamer? What do they do? What is their age? Who are they?
2. Their circumstances? Immediate concerns?
3. Any recent major events?
4. Could they possibly have seen/ eaten something before sleeping that was directly shown in the dream?
5. What time of the night/day did the dream occur?
6. What is the exact content and sequence of the dream?
7. Other questions that might reveal the real life context of the dreamer’s life.

Recurring dreams are significant.

P.S. Humans and animals have psychic abilities. Everyday life incidents prove it, no matter what anyone says. If you feel you have any ability, accept and appreciate it. It may appear to be scary or unfamiliar initially.

Could religion itself actually have orignated in dream experiences?

Could this have actually happened? I’m not saying it does. What if it were true, would it mean we are in a dream state when it comes to religion and if we wake up, what then? Would religion have been just a dream? As to the question posted, the question, only, is based on a study of dreams by Kelly Bulkeley, past president of the Association for the Study of Dreams.

Read the Bible and you’ll know God did speak and send message through dreams. Good examples, Joseph and his brothers in old testament.

But nowadays, it is more psychological than religious.
